A public liability claim is a claim made against injuries sustained from an accident that occurs on property that is open to the public. If you have had an accident in a public building or on a road or pavement you will be entitled to make a claim for compensation. Accidents in public can occur in a variety of places, and usually happen from simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sufficient steps must be taken to oversee the safety of the public and if injury occurs through negligence than you can claim for full and just compensation. Public liability also covers accidents caused by unsafe public property or property that is left in dangerous places. Examples include a slip, trip, fall or cut caused by protruding objects and electric shocks as a result of an exposed wire.
However minor you may think your injury is to begin with, any accident that happens on public property must be recorded in the on site accident book so if this wasn't done at the time a quick phone call can see to it.
